Plano Eggfest Set For November 5, 2011

After only two 'Gatherings,' Plano has become a favorite spot for Texans and a few neighboring states to gather for a weekend of fun and frolic, all focused around the Big Green Egg.

Steve "Hornhonk" Cockerham announced the next date as November 5, 2011.  Of course, for some of us that means November 4 - 5 because what's a party without a pre-party?

Anyway, mark your calendar for November 5th and dust off your cool weather jacket.

See you in Plano.

Plano Egghead Gathering 2010 - The Movie

The Plano Egghead Gathering 2010 is over but lives on in our memories and photos.  It was fun from the moment we arrived on Friday at Twin Peaks Restaurant, the choice place to wet our whistles after being on the road.

It was fun at the informal Meet & Greet at the American Legion Hall where chicken fried steak was as good as any top-dollar restaurant, and the money goes to a worthy cause.

It was fun lighting the first Eggs early Saturday morning and stayed fun all day long as more and more people arrived, many of them 'newbies' getting a front row center seat to see how we Eggheads have fun.  There were lots of smiles and lots more Eggs sold as seemingly endless new foods came off the always hot Eggs.

It can be fun again to just sit back and watch the movie.

I'm pretty sure there will be a Plano Egghead Gathering 2011.

See y'all there.

If you're not Packed for Plano, You're Late

Never schedule a surgery or a home remodeling job just before an Egghead Gathering.  It sure puts a crimp on scheduling when to pack.

We've not even started packing yet.  I'm just taking a break from trying to clean up the mess from the tile guys.  They may have cleaned up the big stuff but there are jillions and jillions of little dust particles in and on everything in the house.  Not to mention stains in carpet and items to be returned to the store and new towels to buy and .......  Well, you know the drill.

Even so, we've got to get on the stick and start loading the truck.

See some of y'all at Noon tomorrow at Twin Peaks.  You can bet I will be thursty.

The rest we'll see on Saturday.

I'm ready for a good time.

Plano Outlaw Gathering Set For November 6, 2010

Steve "Horn Honk" Cockerham did such a good job putting together the Outlaw Egghead Gathering in 2009 that he decided to do it again.  Here he is in his traditional 'Thinking Mode' pondering what he could do to top last year's fun.

"Well, let's see, we need to make more room for more Eggheads, and we need to pick a date."

"This time we can expand onto the grassy area and parking lot next to the Hall.".

"Wc can set the date for November 6th at the Plano American Legion Hall like last year."

"Okay, I'm done.  Sure wish I had some pictures of last year to show how much fun we had.  Maybe even a movie.  That would be cool..."

"What's this???  Click here?"  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PXhXyZskls

"Okay, all that's left is to tell everyone who wants to come to call or email me.

Phone # is 214 785-9102 and email is hornhonk@verizon.net.

"This sure was a lot easier to figure out than last year..."

"Oh wait! We will start lighting some Eggs about 9:00 AM Saturday.  You don't have to arrive then, of course, but some of us need breakfast bloody mary's."

"Also, a few of those arriving from out of town plan to meet at Twin Peaks (next to the hotel) about Noon on Friday to rest their weary bones from driving.  There may be beer involved. Spring Hen is coordinating that little get-together.  Her email is judy_mc@comcast.net and home phone # is 281 353-7961 or cell 281 744-9998"

"And don't forget the American Legion Hall has their Friday night dinner with the proceeds going to a very worthy cause.  Come hungry because the plates are big and less costly than a fancy restaurant.  There may be a couple of Eggs lit for some Egghead type snacks at an impromptu meet & greet afterward.  Hey, we're all there to have fun."

Finally, the American Legion Hall has a well equipped bar where beverages are very good and very easy on the pocketbook, not to mention convenient.  For that reason, please don't bring your own.  We think you understand why and thank for following the rules."

Those coming

(Note: this is just a partial list.  There are a number of people who have expressed an interest in Egg'n and want to come see what it's all about.  We Eggheads know that Egg'n is a lot more than just owning an Egg.  Lets help point them in 'our' direction.)

It would help Steve prepare if you would call or email him to let him know how many in your party, if you plan to cook, and if you require any special assistance.  If you have something you would like to offer as a door prize, bring it and let Steve know where it came from.

Finally, if you are not cooking but would like to participate in the door prize drawing you can purchase a ticket from Steve for $10.00 which will go directly to one of the many charity and assistance programs sponsored by the Plano American Legion Hall.  Cooks are automatically entered.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, call or email Steve.  He will be glad to help you.
